ABOUT FRISCO FRESH MARKET

Tells us about your business.
Frisco Fresh Market is a local farmer’s market in Frisco Texas. We specialize in unique products and gourmet foods of all kinds along with fresh local produce and artisan goods. We are one of the year-round markets in the Dallas area.

How long have you been in business?
We will have been open two years as of June 2020

How many locations and staff do you have?
We have one location with 8 employees and between 50-92 vendors at any time throughout the year.

What makes your business unique?
Our vendors make us unique. Hande made, homemade, unique artisan products and foods round out our items found in the market. Some vendors import European delights as well!

How did you get your idea or concept?
The business was formed as a result of the owner’s love of European and domestic farmers markets. Our goals were to bring a variety of products to the residents of North Dallas as well as a variety of fantastic events!

What do customers enjoy the most about your business?
Our vendors. We consistently get great reviews about our fantastically friendly and knowledgeable vendors and their products. Our vendors will take the time to introduce you to the benefits of using their products or the unique flavors they bring to the area.

What’s your most popular product, service, and or item, and when is the busiest time of the week usually?
We are open on weekends. Saturdays and Sundays! Popular products range from local barbeque, El Salvadorian foods, Greek food, gourmet coffees, jams, jellies, hot sauce, European Olive oils, sweet treats of all kinds, pet treats and foods, local honey and produce, handmade candles and jewelry and so much more!

How do most customers discover you?
Customers find us by drive-by, word of mouth, and searching farmers markets in North Dallas online.

All of our Dallas-based business partners have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. While there is little any individual company can do to remove the challenging implications of the pandemic on their business, there is a lot that an individual company can do to sustain operations and continue to survive and thrive through this season.

The OTG team wants to thank Frisco Fresh Market for their transparency and engagement. We asked about how COVID-19 has impacted their business and what they are doing as a result. Jennifer talked a bit about how Frisco Fresh Market is combating the challenges of COVID-19.

COVID-19 IMPACT & RESPONSE

How has COVID-19 affected your business?
The market changed to an order online system for curbside pick up in late March. We will keep this feature as well as open the market for onsite shopping in early May.

What changes have you made to your business in response to COVID-19?
We have adopted a system of ordering online for curbside pick up to limit the number of interactions. Vendors dropped off goods to the market beforehand and our team of market employees placed orders in customers’ trunks as they stayed in their cars. Customers pre-pay online. No payments are taken on site.

PATH FORWARD

How has your physical to the digital portion of your business changed? Have you seen a significant increase in deliveries and or certain products being consumed?
We have done heavy advertising for the change in business model from onsite shopping to online shopping with digital marketing. This was a choice we made to engage customers because of the lack of physical foot traffic.

Has COVID-19 affected your marketing & advertising strategy? If yes, what new ways are you reaching locals now?
Yes. We spend significantly more on advertising now.

This concludes our weekly Local Deep Dive with OTG featuring this week’s guest Jennifer, Growth Manager of Frisco Fresh Market. We hope that you enjoyed this interview and can apply some of these insights to your own business. Be sure to keep track of our Local Deep Dive Series for more industry insights, recommendations, and best practices weekly with local businesses and their owners.
